Fueled by a long tradition of successfully mentoring young performers to achieve choral excellence, the organization expanded upon its mission in an effort to inspire young men and women from all walks of life to pursue their dreams.
FWAFA: The New Home of Texas Boys Choir
In 2001, the organization opened its first public charter school, and Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts (FWAFA) was born. FWAFA is a unique environment designed to provide the best of both worlds under one roof: professional artistic training and nationally recognized academic and college preparatory programs for male and female students in grades 3 through 12.
In addition to a rigorous classroom schedule, students receive training in dance, music, theater, and the visual arts. Admission to FWAFA is by audition and 500 students are enrolled this year. Competition is keen to enter FWAFA in the 3rd and 6th grades. Students rarely leave, and 100% graduate. Texas Center for Arts + Academics
Today, Texas Boys Choir joins three other amazing artistic and academic organizations under the management of Texas Center for Arts + Academics: Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts, Texas School of the Arts (TeSA) and Texas Dance Conservatory. The mission of Texas Center for Arts + Academics is to establish, support and grow our charter schools, the Texas Boys Choir, and our other artistic programs, which are designed to foster a lifelong passion for artistic and academic excellence.
For more than 70 years, Texas Boys Choir has been instrumental in instilling a love of artistic expression and a desire to succeed in its young members. Today, Texas Center for Arts Academics is a strong voice in the North Texas arts community, and an active advocate for providing young people the means and opportunity to explore and excel in their lives.
