ORGANIZATION RECEIVES $100,000 GRANT AWARD
TO FUND THEATER ACQUISITIONS AT TEXAS SCHOOL OF THE ARTS

FORT WORTH, TX—Texas Boys Choir, Inc., the non-profit organization that supports Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts, Texas Boys Choir and Texas School of the Arts, has received a $100,000 grant from the Kathleen Connors Trust through PlainsCapital Bank. The grant will fund a complete lighting and sound system for the theater at Texas School of the Arts (TeSA) and allow for the purchase of a performance piano. The grant was awarded at a private reception held at River Crest Country Club on Thursday, February 26.

“We are thrilled to be the recipient of this grant,” said Texas School of the Arts Principal Natalie Texada. “Proper lighting and sound in our theater will provide students at both campuses a true performance space and allow them to explore stage production and management skills. Our students at TeSA will also benefit greatly from the quality of sound produced by a high-quality piano during daily rehearsals and in their numerous performances.”

The Kathleen Connors Trust awarded $1.3 million on Thursday to 17 non-profit organizations. TBC, Inc. received the grant based on many merits, but key to those was the school’s record of internal support from its families, faculty and Board of Directors. The school’s 2014 annual giving campaign reached 100% representative participation across all grade levels and within the staff and board.

To recognize Mrs. Connors’ support and generosity, the theater will be named “Kathleen Connors Theater” in her honor. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at a later date. PlainsCapital Bank is a longtime partner of Texas Boys Choir, Inc.  Linda Metcalf, Senior Vice President of Wealth Management for PlainsCapital Bank, was instrumental in the awarding of this major gift.

Since 2001, TBC, Inc. has opened two public charter schools that provide young men and women the best of both worlds under one roof: comprehensive fine arts training and nationally recognized academic programs. The mission of Texas Boys Choir, Inc. is to establish, support and grow our charter schools, the Texas Boys Choir, and our other artistic programs, which are designed to foster a lifelong passion for artistic and academic excellence.
