Order of the Alamo A follow-up to our recent appearance at the Coronation of the Queen in San Antonio:

It was an amazing experience to participate in this grand event. For those of you looking for more information please follow this link...

The Texas Boys Choir will perform in an evening of beauty and fantasy at the Coronation of the Queen of The Order of The Alamo on April 23, 2008, one of the central events of Fiesta San Antonio.  Young ladies attired in elaborate dresses and trains spangled with glittering beads, crystals and jewels will be presented in San Antonio’s grand Municipal Auditorium.  This year the Coronation’s costumes, set and music are inspired by creative elements and themes from historic and classic European Palaces, Castles and Royal Retreats in "The Court of Palatial Magnificence.”

  • The Coronation of the Queen of The Order of The Alamo
  • 8:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 23, 2008
  • San Antonio Municipal Auditorium
  • $14-$44.  All seats reserved.
  • Advance tickets available through Ticketmaster, (210) 224-9600, or www.ticketmaster.com (search for “Coronation”).

After the Royal Court is seated within the splendid stage setting, musicians from the San Antonio Symphony and singers from The Texas Boys Choir will entertain the royalty and the audience.  Roger L. Melone, the Resident Conductor of the New Mexico Symphony, will conduct the symphony orchestra accompanying Duchesses from San Antonio and around the state of Texas as they make their full-court bows.  The evening culminates in the presentation of Her Royal Highness, the Princess and the Coronation of Her Gracious Majesty, the Queen.

Founded by San Antonio businessmen and community leaders in 1909, The Order of The Alamo, a non-profit educational organization, celebrates Texas’ heroic struggle for independence from Mexico and the historic victory at San Jacinto.  The organization chose its first Queen that year and has participated in Fiesta ever since, with the exception of the war years (1918-1919 and 1943-1945) in which no Coronations were presented.  Thought by many to be one of the most magnificent and an unusual event of its kind in the country, the Coronation is an unforgettable evening for the whole family.
